FAQ's About Hair Extensions

Hair extensions have been used for decades to emphasize beauty.

Hair extensions, also called hair weaves, are lengths of real or synthetic hair that are closely attached to a person's scalp, adding length and/or thickness and beauty to the person's own natural hair. There are several different methods for attaching hair extensions, some of which are longer lasting than others. When well matched in color and texture, and professionally applied, hair extensions are designed to mix in and move naturally with a person's own hair, making it difficult to tell the person is wearing them. They can provide volume, extend hair, and add highlights or lowlights. With the proper maintenance, some extensions can last up to a full year before they need to be removed.

Q. Will people be able to tell that I'm wearing extensions?

A. The majority of clients want the most subtle, invisible look possible, and we are happy to accommodate. Anyone who has never met you will not be able to tell that the extensions aren't your very own hair.

Q. Can you match the highlights in my hair and can I continue to get my highlights done?

A. This one is easy-we tend to use color blends with hair, especially with light browns and blondes-the very top of your hair will not have extensions on, so we generally match the color you have at the nape of your neck, and we can match the streaks if you like. Your colorist simply works around the extensions to re-color. We can also use extensions to give you highlights without compromising your hair.

Q. Will extensions ruin my hair?

A. Not at all. We have many ways to put in your extensions. The most common one is the sew in: Hair is braided so tiny and the extension is seed in.

Fusion: This is installed in with the micro links. Both are safe and very easy to take down. I will advice my clients to come back to me for take down.

Q. I have very short hair-can I get extensions?

A. If your hair is 0-5 inches long, you can get extensions, however, what you won't get is a one length look-it will have to be layered throughout into a shag cut.

Q. How long will it take to add extensions to my own hair?

A. Appointments run an average of 30mins-3 hours depending on the type you are going to get.

Q. Do I need to buy expensive special shampoos and conditioners?

A. I advice to use moisturizing shampoo & cream conditioner. But because it an extension, it is best to come to the salon in other to avoid

Q. Can I use a hairdryer, hot rollers, hot sticks, tongs and other styling equipment?

A. Yes, you can use all of the above, We only use real human hair.

Q. How long will my extensions last?

A. It's different for everyone but averages 4-6 months.

Q. Do You Have a Cosmetology License? Can you cut and blend my extensions?

A. Yes.

Q. Can I bath, shower, swim, go out in the wind and rain, and play sports in my new extensions?

A. Your new hair will look as fabulous wet as real hair does, and the extension joins will not show in water. You can wash and style your extensions exactly as you would your own hair (do be a little gentler). Extensive water exposure will loosen braids underneath or bonding though-so dry carefully after. If you swim a lot, I recommend to braid it up or  wear a swim cap.
